A Little Bit About Me - My Testimony

My name is Shelby, I'm 15 years old and I live in a small community in Michigan. This upcoming school year I will be in 11th grade. I was adopted as a baby from a difficult situation. I was not raised in the church, in fact I was raised far from it. Both of my parents were raised Catholic, but after they were married they stopped attending church and dropped religion all together. When I was younger the thought of God rarely crossed my mind, if people asked my religion I would tell them Christian because that's what all of my other friends were. The reality was I had gone to church maybe 10 times in my life and it was always with family friends or my friends.

It wasn't until about 2 years ago that I started thinking about where my life was headed in terms of spirituality. I had started developing bad habits that I knew were sinful, but I had never thought of it like that because I had been taught that, "these things were natural." Even though I had realized what I was doing was wrong I still continued doing it. About a year ago I decided to seek help. I stared to read the Bible and talk to friends who I knew would be able to help me. As time went on I started to pray and one night I prayed that the Lord would allow me to come in contact with my birth mother (who'd I'd been searching for, for about 5 years). The next day while surfing facebook I found her profile! I prayed about whether or not to send her a friend request and after a few hours I figured that the Lord had wanted me to find that webpage for a reason. I sent a friend request and that thanksgiving we chatted over facebook for about an hour. That was the first time I truly had full faith in what God was doing in my life and ever since I have been a faithful servant to him.

This year I have gotten to do so many great things with the help of God. I have almost completely rid myself of the bad habit that got my faith started in the first place, I have gotten to meet my birth family, I have joined a church (Fundamental Baptist) and a Bible study club at my school, and found overall peace in my life.

I have created this blog with the hope that those who see it will take the information within it and use it to help their own lives and build a stronger relationship with their Lord and Savior.

Peace and Blessings,
Shelby Renee
